About the Dixon's
Braxton Dixon is a master builder in the truest sense of the term. He built his first house when he was 14 years old and has been building ever since. He is 92 and still designs one-of-a-kind unusual houses.
He only uses wood from old buildings, log houses, log barns, train stations, courthouses, school houses....as long as the timbers are good and solid and huge.
In the late 60's and all through the 70's and 80's he designed and built for some of the legends of country music , most well known, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Donna Fargo, Starday Records President Don Pierce, Monument Records President Fred Foster and houses for those who wanted something different and unusual.
In the 1950's he followed the Interstates and gathered an unparalleled collection from the gorgeous old homes on both sides of the Mississippi River that were being demolished to make room for the highway system coming through the entire country. He was determined to save so much of our country's architectural history. He has never opened up the entire collection because he always used these beautiful pieces in the houses he built. This is what we are showing.....pieces from this fantastic collection.
He and his wife, Maryanna have categorized the entire collection and will be offering much of it for sale. The categories will be Antique Hardware, Antique Windows, Antique Doors, Antique Stained Glass, Antique Light Fixtures, Antique Bathroom Fixtures and Accessories , and under each main category will be sub-cataegories identifying the types under each main category.
We hope you will find something that appeals to your sense of style and taste that may find a home for any of these pieces from our past.
